In both written and oral communication it’s easy to start with the ordinary.
While we may look at just a few business letters a year, we see hundreds of emails. First we see the subject line. How many subject lines gather your attention? Many subject lines don’t even tell us what’s in the email.
The most important item about the subject line is to write it last. Read over the email you are sending to get an idea of the subject line for it. Know what you’re saying in the email, then give it a title. This also gives you the opportunity to read what you have written. This enables you to get subject line ideas. Think it out. See what you think will get the recipient’s attention.
Remember that the subject line is the first thing they see. Make a good first impression. Make it count.
